Roles and Funding and Gen Ed

The economy dominated the discussion about the roles of the university. It was more a session to validate the university in an economic pinch. I think the question of where gen-ed fights in and what the university should expect out of high school seniors was more interesting. I think more than just the honors level kids should be in college prep mode. If high-schools have a tiered system they seem to have a two tiered system when maybe 3 or 4 are necessary to accommodate everybody's ambitions and skill sets. Honors, College Prep and everybody else. If you start doing that though where do you draw the lins and how many lines are neccessary become the next debate points in the conversation on k-12 ed.
